Under-eye cream – my essential for skin care

Hey! 🙂

I’ve got a question for you – do you use an under-eye cream? If your answer is ‘no’, then I would like to convince you to introduce it into your everyday skincare routine. Keep reading!

Under-eye cream – why should we use it?

In the past, I thought that I don’t need an under-eye cream. I treated this skin area pretty roughly, not caring about its condition. I used to go for a regular face cream that I had in my house. During the application, I rubbed it under my eyes as well. Now I know that I should’ve cared about my under-eye areas more so I could enjoy my skin free of bruises, swelling and crow’s feet for longer. As they say: ‘you never stop learning’. For a few years now, an under-eye cream is my must-have – a true essential in skin care. Why did I start using it? I couldn’t get rid of the swelled skin under my eyes. I struggled with bruising and I heard many people say that I should get some sleep. The skin in that areas became extremely thin, fragile and delicate. It was time to finally reach for a good eye cream.

What should a good under-eye cream be like?

If you don’t know which eye cream to choose, I come to the rescue! I follow a few simple rules when I’m shopping:

  • The product shouldn’t contain any artificial dyes and fragrances.
  • It should be composed of mild preserving agents – too powerful preservatives cause faster skin ageing!
  • It’s important for it to be highly moisturizing, nurturing, and revitalizing for the demanding under-eye skin.
  • Lightweight formula that is quickly absorbed by the skin.
  • Active ingredients are something I always look for in under-eye creams: hyaluronic acid, collagen, elastin, caffeine, vitamins A, C, and E, as well as ceramides.
  • I like when the ingredient list contains plant ingredients such as aloe vera, horse chestnut, green tea or euphrasia.

Active ingredients in eye creams work incredibly well against unwanted swelling, under-eye bags, and bruises. They restore the skin’s elasticity and improve hydration levels. They care for the proper blood circulation of the skin so you don’t look tired or sleepy anymore and the eyes regain their shine.

How to apply under-eye creams?

Nothing complicated 🙂 Use your fingertips – apply a small amount of the cream under your eyes by making three little dots under your eyes and one above them. Don’t rub it in, pat it in! It’s best to use your ring fingers which are a lot more delicate than the other ones. Eye cream should be applied in both morning as well as evening skincare. Lightweight formulas are the best for day wear even under your makeup.

Keep in mind that a concealer won’t be enough to camouflage bruises and swelling. Healthy skin = beautiful skin, so proper skin care is very important while makeup should enhance our facial features, not mask our imperfections – that’s what I think at least 🙂

I leave you with that thought. I hope that under-eye creams will become your friends and a staple on your bathroom shelves.
Take care and stay warm!
