I Check Whether DIY Lash Extensions for Self-Application from Top Brands are a Bop or a Flop
Perfectly emphasized eyelashes are probably the basis of good makeup for all of us. Unfortunately, they do not always look the way we dream of. This is also the case with my lashes. My natural eyelashes are not only short, but also sparse. Fortunately, I recently discovered a product that allows me to forget about it. I am referring to DIY lash extensions. I can’t hide the fact that before I found the perfect lash kit, I tested several of them. Each of them came from a top brand. Which one turned out to be a hit, and which one was a total flop?
DIY application cluster lashes allow you to do your makeup in a flash
Before I get to which of the eyelash extension kits turned out to be the best for me, I want to tell you why I chose the DIY lash extension method. So far, I have already tested various products. Unfortunately, I found it quite difficult to apply regular lash clusters. I couldn’t grab them well with tweezers, and applying them evenly along my natural lash line bordered on a miracle. The result was that it used to take me more than an hour to do all my makeup.
I am not fond of my natural eyelashes, so I started looking for other solutions. That’s how I came across the Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit, Falscara Starter Kit, and other lash-styling kits. These, unlike regular cluster lashes, are applied underneath the natural ones. As it turned out, this method is just right for me!
Lash extension kits that I tested! Which one is the biggest flop?
Before I found out which lash extension kit suits me best, I tested five of them. As I already mentioned in the introduction, each of them came from a top brand. You can probably guess that my expectations were high. Especially, for the sets that cost the most.
Before deciding which products I would test, I read a bit more about them. The user reviews about each of the products were positive, but I wouldn’t be myself if I didn’t tested them myself.
1. Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit
Tempted by the extraordinarily positive reviews from other users, I decided to test the Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit first. I had previously used other products from this brand and was very satisfied. As it turned out, this kit also quickly won my heart.
It contains:
- 36 cluster eyelashes in three lengths – 10, 12, and 14 mm,
- a bonder and a sealer – the products needed for applying the lashes effectively,
- an applicator – its purpose is to facilitate the placement of the tufts and fix the styling,
- a remover – a product that facilitates removing the lashes afterwards.
I found some information on the Nanolash website that it only takes 10 minutes to apply these cluster lashes. After my experience with ordinary drugstore products, I didn’t quite believe it, but it turned out to be true. It didn’t take me even a minute longer, and that was my first attempt. By this stage, I already knew that it would be a real hit.
However, this is not the only advantage of the cluster lashes from Nanolash. A huge plus for me is that the lashes are soft, and I didn’t have to reach for extra tweezers when applying them. The applicator was included in the set. Its shape made applying the clusters underneath my natural lashes go very smoothly for me, even in the most inaccessible areas.
The Nanolash DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit can be purchased with cluster lashes in eight styles. Some of them provide only a subtle effect, but there are also ones that give really great volume.
2. Tatti Lashes Invisi-Lash Kit
Tatti Lashes is a popular brand, especially on social media. You probably won’t be surprised to learn that I also decided to test the Invisi-Lash Kit for DIY eyelash extensions. You can choose from 7 available lash styles. They differ in volume and length, among other things. I was tempted by the Haute Couture lashes.
The Tatti Lashes clusters come on either black or clear strips. For women with a dark eye frame, the number 1 option works better, so that’s what I chose. In addition to the clusters, the kit includes:
- Invisi-Lash Bond,
- Seal Glue,
- an applicator,
- a small brush.
According to user reviews, I didn’t have much trouble applying the lashes, although it didn’t go as smoothly as with the kit from Nanolash. Other than that, everything seemed to work fine. The lashes looked nice and stayed on very well.
3. KISS Falscara Starter Kit
The next lash extension kit I tested was from the KISS brand. My attention was immediately drawn to the fact that the Falscara Starter Kit contains only 10 cluster lashes, making it enough for just one application. However, I decided not to feel discouraged right away. The manufacturer also provides:
- BOND,
- SEAL,
- an applicator.
I managed to put on the lash clusters quite efficiently, and the effect was nice. Unfortunately, this lash kit does not include a remover. This way, I had to use another product that I already had at home to remove the lashes. If you don’t have one, this is an item worth buying. You will also need a product that would protect them overnight.
The manufacturer claims that it is possible to reuse these cluster lashes. I treated them as disposable, since I already had another kit to test.
4. Glamnetic Lash Extension Kit
I had higher expectations with this kit. Glamnetic, like Nanolash, included a remover and sealer, which made using them a pleasure. As designed, the lashes should last up to 5 days. I tried caring for them from day one, and indeed – I put them on on Tuesday, and removed them on Saturday.
Glamnetic offers the kit with a choice of different sizes and styles of the lashes. In addition to them, rthe kit includes a remover and a sealer, a Bonder, and an applicator. I had some practice after previous tests, so it took me about 10 minutes to apply the clusters underneath my real lashes.
While the kit seemed promising, I was a bit disappointed after opening the box. I like a rather subtle makeup look, and the clusters included don’t look very natural. I thought that the effect would be inconspicuous on my eyelashes, but unfortunately, it was noticeable. As a result, I felt uncomfortable wearing them.
5. Lashify Starter Kit
This is the last product I tested. First of all, compared to the previous ones, it comes at a much higher price. Does this translate into more eyelashes? Unfortunately, no. The entire kit contains just 10 lash clusters. As a result, I used them all in one go.
As for the quality, this is definitely a professional lash extension kit, giving a very natural effect. The lashes that come with it are very soft and, and with skillful application, they are almost indistinguishable from your lashes.
I managed to apply them in a very short time. Moreover, they lasted for 5 days on my eyes. Nevertheless, I found the price of the set quite exorbitant and I am unlikely to buy it again.
Which lash kit is a hit and will stay with me for a long time?
After testing all the kits and analyzing their pros and cons, I find that I was most impressed with the one from Nanolash brand. The DIY Eyelash Extensions Starter Kit has met my expectations in probably every way and is my hit. I can now recommend it to you with a clear conscience.
As for the other products, I was satisfied with most of them too, but the makeup results were not always as I would have expected. Many of them also lacked a remover, which I personally like to use. Let me know if you also plan to test any of the lash extension starter kits included in the ranking, or maybe you already found your favorite and, like me, you also chose the kit from Nanolash?
