It would be great to blow-dry hair without worrying about dryness and damage, wouldn’t it? It is possible: spraying a heat protectant on hair before heat styling is a remedy. Today I’ll tell you what it is, what it does, and which ones work best – read on and post a comment!

What is a heat protectant spray?

Heat protectant is made for one purpose, namely, for protecting the hair from thermal damage. Some of them have extra properties, leaving the hair smoother and easier to style. The best heat protectants guard the hair from high temperatures as well as deliver hold and act as a repairing hair conditioner. They have a beautifying effect, add shine and ease combing. See which one is the best choice: I’m rounding up the most brilliant ones.

What does a heat protectant do?

  • builds a microscopic shield which prevents dry hair
  • stops frizz and static
  • leaves hair easier to style and nourishes it
  • has a beautifying and smoothing effect
  • many of them help straighten the hair

Heat Protectants for Hair – 4 Best Products

Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray

Nanoil Heat Protectant Spray

I bought this spray because I’ve known and used Nanoil’s products for a long time (hair masks, shampoos, pure oils, face serums). I’ve never been disappointed. You may also know the brand because it’s got quite popular recently. It’s getting lots of rave reviews and top ratings. Nanoil’s products never let me down and neither did the heat protectant. It is the best thermal protection spray I’ve ever used. Nanoil Heat Protectant is efficient and affordable, easy to use all over the hair and the best for heat protection (even extreme temps. up to 430 degrees). Any extra benefits? It strengthens and repairs as well as makes the hair look fabulous: mine gets smooth, glossy and feels super soft right off. I also noticed my hair is easier to detangle and looks great all day.

Davines Essential Melu Hair Shield

This heat protectant spray is recommended for all hair types and it does work great for everyone. It produces nice effects because it smooths and styles the hair apart from protecting it. The product is rich in Villalba lentil extract which nourishes and revitalizes. It is non-overburdening, helps style the hair and prevents damage. The added extract is valuable as it abounds in sericin and glutamic acid – important amino acids for hair, essential to keep it safe and hydrated. I only wish it was more budget-friendly and lasted longer.

Bumble And Bumble Invisible Oil Heat/Uv Protective Primer

A shop assistant at a drugstore recommended this one and it’s really cool, but the price is like a joke. Definitely too much. Bumble And Bumble Invisible Oil Heat/Uv Protective Primer can be used on any hair but I think it’s best on dry and curly hair. It smells like heaven! The tropical scent is perfect for summer. Plus it stays on long, which is great. The product is very thick and we shouldn’t be surprised – it contains six oils (grape seed oil, almond oil, coconut oil, monoi oil, macadamia nut oil, argan oil and safflower oil)! It’s not the best choice for hair which is prone to oil build-up but dry hair will definitely benefit from such composition – it will be bouncy and smooth.

Kemon And 13 Heat Spray

A really good one. It even proved better than Kerastase and Moroccanoil. Seriously! It isn’t the best choice for styling, smoothening or adding shine but it definitely protects from damage while blow-drying. Hair is also easier to detangle. Kemon And 13 Heat Spray contains nutrient-rich flavonoids from grape seeds which strengthen the hair, and ferulic acid derived from rice to prevent hair aging. It doesn’t cost much and doesn’t overload fine, fragile hair. It lasts quite long.
